June 21, 2006
MS# 0494.R1

Dear Don,

I have studied your extensively revised manuscript and your responses to the comments of the reviewers. You have done an impressive job of addressing all problem areas and have greatly improved and clarified the paper. I was somewhat concerned that an additional review would be needed, given that some of the issues are beyond my expertise, but, in fact, your presentation is so clear that even I think I can understand it. In short, the paper now appears to be ready for publication, and I am recommending acceptance by MAPS.

Congratulations on a very nice piece of work.

Best regards,
Cyrena

Dear Don:

I have received a positive recommendation on your paper, "Experimental Petrology of the Basaltic Shergottite Yamato 980459: Implications for the Thermal Structure of the Martian Mantle" from the associate editor, Dr. Cyrena Goodrich.

I agree with the recommendation of the associate editor and this paper is now accepted for publication in Meteoritics & Planetary Science. The comments of the associate editor are included in the attached PDF.

Thank you for submitting this interesting paper to Meteoritics & Planetary Science. I look forward to your continued contributions to the Journal.

Sincerely,

Dr. A. J. Timothy Jull
Editor in Chief, Meteoritics & Planetary Science

paper!!!

don finally sent me the final revised draft of our paper! 'experimental petrology of the basaltic shergottite yamato 980459: implications for the thermal structure of the martian mantle.' i have given myself until wednesday to make my corrections (since i can spot a typo from 3 miles away, as advisor tom likes to say. and i'm a grammar nazi like my mother.) and then it will be submitted for publication! finally! this paper has been almost two years in the making. i'm so glad it's finally getting published. i've gotten through 17 pages of text so far. have 9 pages of text, 2 pages of appendix, and 4 pages of figure captions to go over tomorrow. and then i'll send it back to don and he'll submit it to meteoritics and planetary science. and i'll be published in a peer-reviewed journal! yay!
