the food turned out amazing. the turkey was so juicy and tender we could cut it with a fork. check out this turkey magnificence, and the rest of the spread:

i have a lot to be thankful for this year. most notably, my dream job starting in january, finally getting out of school, great friends, and someone who matches me pretty perfectly in every way. i'm very lucky.

i'm excited that we still have an entire weekend to relax. em and i have a party to go to that one of her coworkers is throwing tomorrow night. should be fun. but that's all we're doing for the rest of the weekend. we got the house decorated for christmas today. all that's left to do is decorate the tree. we might do that tomorrow. we'll see.

oh, and hook 'em horns! we beat a&m, so as long as nothing goes wrong in the big 12 championship, we might get a shot at the national championship. quite exciting. colt mccoy had quite a game, so hopefully he'll get the heisman he deserved last year.

and now, i'm going to go relax in bed. :)
georion23: (longhorns)
longhorns beat oklahoma state 36-10!!! freshman quarterback colt mccoy beat the previous record held by vince young of most touchdown passes in a season, with two games left in the regular season. he's only three td passes away from beating the ncaa record of touchdown passes by a freshman. freaking amazing. we might be ranked #3 in the country tomorrow since #5 louisville upset #3 west virginia. as long as we beat kansas state next week, we'll be playing nebraska for the big 12 title. and then we'll see about bsc games. hook 'em horns!!!

longhorns squeak by tech after being down 21-0 in the first quarter to win it 35-31!. that was one crazy game. i was thinking we weren't going to win it after that first quarter. but we managed to turn it around, which is good because usc LOST to UNRANKED oregon state (!!!) so they dropped in the polls and we're now #4. go beavers! sfa even won against southeastern louisiana. awesome. we play sam houston next week, then nicholls state, and then play northwestern state for chief caddo, the largest trophy in college football. nebraska lost to unranked oklahoma state, so ut is in a nice position to win the big 12 championship, as long as we don't lose to texas a&m at thanksgiving. woo! hook 'em horns!!!
georion23: (longhorns)
longhorns beat nebraska! that was one scary game. only won by 2 points. the field goal kicker missed two field goals and had an extra point blocked so we were down by 1 point and they had the ball with about two minutes to go. and we fumbled them and got the ball. ended up needing a field goal and so we put in little ryan bailey from anderson high school in austin, who was going to be kicking his first-ever field goal. and he made it for the game-winning score! so awesome. hell of a game. hook 'em horns!!!
georion23: (longhorns)
the longorns beat the sooners 28-10 in the red river rivalry game!!!

i like how the stadium is divided exactly in half between texas and ou fans. good fun. hook 'em horns!

longhorns beat west virginia to move to the elite eight in college basketball playoffs. we play lsu on saturday. it would be so awesome if the longhorns could be national champions in baseball, football, and basketball, all in the same year. hook 'em horns!

today was good, but not so productive. tomorrow will be busy getting everything done i wanted to this weekend, but that's okay. slept really late because i stayed up till 3:30ish (after 5 hours of sleep the night before) watching a thing on egypt and finding king tut's tomb on discovery channel. i am a discovery channel junkie. fell asleep sometime around 3:30. woke up at 10 to the cat mewing and the tv still on. turned it off and slept till 1:30. nice.

went and saw 'walk the line' with sarah. awesome. everyone should go see this movie. i finally got new shoes! the blue is actually quite a bit darker than it shows up in that picture. now i can play football and do the elliptical machine and not get blisters from my shoes with the insides completely gone! woo! this town apparently cares nothing about ut winning the national championship. tshirts are NOWHERE. so i must now either bribe someone in texas (with sexual favors of course) to get me one, or order one online. sigh. if anyone who reads this wants to send me one, i wear a small. it probably won't happen but hey, it's worth a shot. texas won the NATIONAL championship, and last i checked, arizona was part of the NATION, so they should have shirts too. but no one asked me. check out the longhorn traveling gnome hehe. and a funny picture i sadly didn't make.

i'm trying to decide if i want to print a picture from the florida keys in black and white or color. what do you think?

todd is moving to college tomorrow. my baby's all grown up! sam houston state seems to think it's a good plan to start school on the 11th. sucks to be him. i'm glad i don't absolutely have to be anywhere till the 17th. i've got a ton of work to keep me busy till then but it's nice to not have class.

garfield comic for the day:

time to watch a movie, un-decorate and take down my little christmas tree, eat some german chocolate sara got me for christmas, and work on shrinking down my figure so it's lpsc-abstract-friendly but still shows everything i want it to. woo.

recap: today was fun, walk the line is awesome, got new shoes finally, need a texas national championship tshirt or ten, my toddy's going to college tomorrow, going to go get busy now. weee...

i dreamt about the longhorns' victory last night. very nice. it's a proud day for texas. i love vince young. he's my favorite person today. and my mom is going to get me some ut national championship gear. woo!

i had the best day. kristen called and woke me up shortly before 11am, which was good as ut was playing colorado in the big 12 championship game starting at 11. ut kicked some major ass. it was 42-3 going into halftime. that included 23 seconds in which we scored 14 points. three plays: ut touchdown, ut interception, ut touchdown. incredible. then zack called and we decided to go to chili's to watch the rest of the game. it turned into a major ordeal getting there because of an art fair taking up all the streets of downtown tempe, but we got to see the 4th quarter, up until the usc/ucla game started. ut won 70-3 and are now the big 12 champions. it was awesome. the next game they play will be against usc in the rose bowl. trojans are going down! hook 'em horns!

zack and i were walking back to my house and we passed a yard sale and they were selling a pretty decent propane grill for $25. so we walked to my apt and got my car and went back and i bought it. we had an interesting time getting it into my car and zack had to sit in the back and hang onto it while i drove with the back open. good times. hehe i bought a grill. so exciting. been wanting one for awhile.

then zack and i sat at my house grading papers for awhile and i got all mine done except for one student who just emailed me his an hour ago. sarah called and said she had a surprise and was going to abduct zack and me for awhile. the surprise was a place in guadalupe that advertised 'texas bbq' but they were closed by the time we got there. she was hungry so we walked back downtown and over to island's so she could get a burger. then over to margarita rocks for a bit to say hi to everyone. then to border's (yay books woo) and finally over to the movie theater where we saw aeon flux. it was actually pretty decent. much better than i was expecting. after the movie, zack, sarah, and i came back to my house and watched some squirrel songs and foamy's rants online and twister on tv. they just left so i'll head off to bed in a few.

tomorrow will be busy working on my geology of mars project. i'm glad i finished grading today so i can concentrate on my project and not worry about anything else. zack and sarah are coming over tomorrow evening and we're going to make chili, so i'll have to go to the store tomorrow sometime to get meat. yum. maybe i'll make brownies too.

last night was good. i gathered all my data for my mars project, pretty much got the introduction done, and finished my references list. decided i was hungry and would call todd when i went to go get food. that turned into me driving around talking to him for two hours before i actually got some taco bell (all that was open by then). it was so nice to talk to him. i haven't seen him since february and hadn't talked to him since he called me on the 4th of july. i'd really missed talking to him. can't wait to see him. he's wonderful. yay todd.

i need to be productive tomorrow so i'm going to sleep now.

recap: longhorns are awesome, had lots of fun with zack and sarah today, i bought a grill, got my papers graded, need to work on my project tomorrow, had a good night last night, i love todd, going to bed. woo. 'night all.

yes!

longhorns won! 40-29. crazy game. i was afraid we'd lose for awhile there. the aggies gave us quite a run, especially considering they're unranked and the 'horns are #2 in the country. still undefeated though and on our way to the rose bowl.

sfa did not do so well in football this year. they ended the season last in the conference with only 1 conference win and a 5-6 record overall. sigh.

arizona state is tied with arizona 20-20 in the 4th quarter. i do enjoy asu football. it's fun because i'm so close to the stadium i can hear the fireworks they shoot off when asu scores. just heard more fireworks. looks like it's 23-20 asu with 6 seconds left. LOTS more fireworks. shaking my apt. i guess we won. yay! woo sun devils.

my kitchen is clean now. i think i used half the dishes and utensils i own making food for thanksgiving and made all of my appliances dirty. everything's clean and put away now. much better.

i decided it was christmas time now so i went to get out some decorations. found a little tree that has lights on it and some candles but chris had told me he had a box of my decorations at his apt. turns out it's the box that has all my ornaments and another tree and lights and stuff in it. damnit. i wonder how much it would cost for him to send it to me. my little naked tree is looking a little pathetic. i found (okay, kepler found) a little toy mousie in a closet when i was getting out my decorations and he's been chasing it around the house all afternoon. so cute.

sweet!! james just called and i'm going to get paid for helping him out at a stargazing event tomorrow night. it's going to be the two of us with his 8" and 11" telescopes and 69 PEOPLE. insane. should be fun though! and it's money! woohoo!

okay, going back to making nighttime ir themis mosaic. weee...

recap: longhorns won, i love football, kitchen's clean, it's christmas, need my decorations, get money for showing people stars tomorrow, time for more fun with work. woo.

thanksgiving was interesting. had a good time at todd's. my pie and potatoes were a huge hit. todd doesn't even like chocolate pie and he wanted to me to make one weekly and bring it to geology of mars. hehe. going to eat myself some leftovers in a few minutes. yum. we watched the cowyboys play, and it was a good game, but they decided to miss a 34-yard field goal so they ended up losing in overtime. bummer. we played foosball, which was great fun. had some not so great conversations with a couple members of my family. really not looking forward to having to deal with hostility over christmas. i won't be staying at my house if i'm not welcome.

i guess this year i am most thankful for my friends. don't think i could have made it through this semester with something resembling sanity without them. they're all wonderful people and i love them very much.

i'd like to take this opportunity to say that i love my cousin erin. she's one of my favorite people on the planet.

wish some of my football-watching friends were in town so we could watch this ut/a&m game together. instead i am watching with kepler. ut is not doing so well. they should be slaughtering a&m and it's 15-14 a&m in the 2nd quarter. this is crap. we are NOT going to lose this game damnit. they aren't even ranked and ut is #2 in the freaking country! come on longhorns, get your game going!

so, this weekend:
-grade papers
-finish nighttime ir themis mosaic
-finish visible themis mosaic
-write up planetary geology paper
-make powerpoint presentation
-clean my kitchen
-clean kep's litterbox

for now, i think i will get some leftovers.
