in the middle of the weirdness (yay mars woo: day 2)

woo indeed. today was great fun, despite waking up early with the sun coming in the window because the curtains in this fine holiday inn don't have an outer curtain right where the sun comes in and hits my bed where my head is. super. i like mars. i really like hearing about all the mars missions that are going to be launched soon/are on their way. it's amazing all the instruments that will be on/orbiting that planet soon. they're sending a freaking quadrupole mass spectrometer. and the europeans have a rover with a drill on it that can drill down 2m and bring back a core, which is then transfered into various analytical instruments. so cool.

i would just like to take this opportunity to say that laurie leshin rocks. she is one of my absolute favorite people on this planet. had lunch with her and the asu kiddos. good fun. that was after great conversation with her in the hallway. she's awesome. even if she did smack me. hehe.

got to chat with carl allen for awhile today. that was nice. hadn't really gotten to talk to him since my lpi internship except for a few minutes at lpsc. he's really cool and is very big on helping students. i introduced him to jorge since jorge wants to do astrobiology and that's what carl does. we had a fun time talking to him. yay jsc people. woo. i do miss all those guys so it's nice to see some of them again. steve mackwell, director of lpi, gave a cool talk today but i didn't get to talk to him. maybe tomorrow.

it's good that i left. needed to get away. my head's getting put back on straight. clarity is good. i know what i need to do and how i need to approach things to attack the rest of the semester. i'm going to kick the rest of the semester's ass. oh yes. it will be so.

i'm happy i get to see britney, though tomorrow i have to ride a train to get from pasadena to near santa monica, where she lives :\ i hope it doesn't eat me.

watching history channel again (yes, i am a discovery/history channel junkie) and they're talking about firefighting. i miss firefighting. it was one of the best experiences i've ever had. maybe someday i can get back into it. i just haven't found a volunteer dept in tempe, not that i've got the spare time to be useful at all anyway. someday...

amy, amy's friend heather, and i all have the same birthday. it's fun. woo.

i'm tired. have to get up early. have a long day tomorrow so i believe i shall go to bed now.

so in summary, mars is awesome, mepag is fun, laurie is amazing, i like carl allen, getting away is good for me, train - yipe!, wish i could fight fire, sleep now. yay mars woo.
