ROUND ROCK — Two McNeil High School students were charged last week with planning to attack the high school, in what authorities are calling a potentially deadly event that was thwarted.
Investigators found "physical evidence" that the students were planning the attack, said Detective John Foster of the Williamson County sheriff's office. Foster announced the arrest during a news conference today.
School officials notified authorities of the threat Thursday, and deputies arrested the two male students the same day. Foster said the two were under 17 years old but wouldn't specify their ages or how authorities became aware of the threat.
The two were charged with conspiracy to commit capital murder and are being held at the Williamson County Juvenile Justice Center, Foster said.
Foster said the investigation and subsequent arrests occurred so quickly that the campus was never in danger.
He said authorities believe that the two students are the only ones responsible for the threat.
Round Rock school district spokeswoman JoyLynn Occhiuzzi said a letter will be sent today to high school parents to inform them of the incident.
what the hell is wrong with these kids? what do they think they're going to accomplish by shooting up a high school? MY high school!
